Barrett Hatchery ships live poultry on weekdays using USPS Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express, depending on the poultry type and quantity ordered. Shipping takes 2-3 days. We don’t ship if the arrival date will take 4 days or more due to Sunday/Holidays - which means that nearly all of our shipments go out on Mondays through Wednesdays. In most cases, when your chicks or ducklings arrive they will be held at the post office and you will go pick them up. Local post offices handle things differently based on location so we suggest you contact your own post office to ask how they handle packages of live poultry. Please pick up your chicks/ducks right away.
Purchase requirements to ship:
For standard and bantams - minimum of 3 per order for Spring, Summer, and Fall. Minimum of 8 per order for Winter (Dec - March). Shipping rate depends on number of chicks ($25 for larger orders; $50 for 3-12 chicks).
For ducklings we require a minimum of 3 per order ($50 for shipping; $25 for orders of 15+).
Of note: We cannot ship any chicks less than 12 days old to Rhode Island. Some states do not allow us to ship certain types of live poultry.
